Her chariot is an empty hazelnut
Made by the joiner squirrel or old grub,
Time out o’ mind the fairies’ coachmakers.
And in this state she gallops night by night
Through lovers’ brains, and then they dream of love;
– from ‘Romeo & Juliet’, Shakespeare

First up, an apology. Things have been sporadic and rather quiet around here of late. Mostly because the last few months have been crazy for us – we moved interstate in April and since then it’s been a cacophony of new jobs, new daycare for the kids, new houses, renovations, getting used to the cold cold Melbourne weather. It’ll be another month, at least, ’til things settle back down. And then I will definitely be back – I’ve got a long list of kitchen ideas on various bits of paper, in my diary, on the back pages of books I’m reading.

In the meantime, the wonderful Katie over at Whole Nourishment has published one of my recipes – a lovely Roasted Cauliflower, Spelt & Za’atar Bowl. This bowl is one of my go-to dishes. It’s simple, as the best food often is. It really highlights the earthy sweetness that is deeply roasted cauliflower. And all the trimmings – hazelnuts, mint, za’atar, preserved lemon – bring it up a level. It’s a damn good meal.

You can check out the recipe here.

Enjoy!

P.S. If you’re not familiar with Katie’s blog do check it out – her recipes are healthy and gorgeous, and Katie is a lovely and generous person.

  1. Cheers Sarah. Thank you for your lovely words. I was honored to have your recipe and photos on my site. This bowl has everything I love and I’m certainly planning to make it soon! Good luck with what hopefully is the last of the settling-in phase this month!
